Statewide Health Department Meeting
The goal of this meeting is to identify strategies for increasing the capacity of local public health departments to address the growing obesity epidemic in California, caused by poor nutrition, physical inactivity and food insecurity. Participants will assess the ability of California's public health infrastructure to prevent obesity; define additional capacities needed to more effectively address poor diet and physical inactivity, with an emphasis on the needs of low-income communities; and develop a strategy for increasing capabilities in California.
This meeting will consider opportunities for public health departments to further enhance their role as local lead agencies in supporting healthy eating and active living.
