Neal D. Kohatsu, MD, MPH
Dr. Kohatsu received his A.B. in Human Biology from Stanford University; his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh; and M.P.H. from the University of Minnesota. He completed his preventive medicine residency at the University of Arizona, Department of Family and Community Medicine. Following residency, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular disease prevention and epidemiology within the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention. Dr. Kohatsu is board certified in Preventive Medicine and is currently President of the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM).
He has worked for 18 years in chronic disease prevention, patient safety, and health care quality, in governmental, private sector, and academic settings. Currently, he is chief of the Cancer Control Branch in the California Department of Health Services, overseeing programs in nutrition, physical activity, preventive services, and epidemiology.
